The Energy Transition Expo, taking place from March 5 to 7, 2025, in Rimini, Italy, is a key event in the global shift towards sustainability. A highlight of the event is the dedicated conference on energy transition in ports, where SEANERGY will present its Master Plan and discuss the future of decarbonized port operations.

Ports are evolving into sustainable energy hubs, with renewable energy projected to account for at least 70% of electricity generation by 2050, compared to just 5% today. This transformation will be explored through discussions on electrification, alternative fuels, infrastructure investment, and collaboration.

Key Topics:

  • SEANERGY Master Plan and port decarbonization strategies
  • Electrification and alternative fuels in port operations
  • Infrastructure investments and energy system integration
  • Innovative technologies and collaboration initiatives

This conference is essential for maritime professionals, policymakers, and investors aiming to contribute to port sustainability. Attendees will gain insights into innovative solutions, infrastructure projects, and policy frameworks shaping the ports of the future. SEANERGY’s role in driving zero-emission port solutions will be a central focus.

SEANERGY Project Presented at Danube Ports Days 2024 in Budapest

On October 30, 2024, Werner Auer from Ennshafen represented the SEANERGY project at the Danube Ports Days in Budapest. This prestigious event, organized by Pro Danube and hosted by the Danube Commission, gathered policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to explore sustainable solutions for inland ports and waterway transport across Europe. Supported by the EU-funded MultiRELOAD, Green Inland Ports Study, SYNERGETICS projects, and the Danube Ports Network, Danube Ports Days emphasized the significance of multimodality, green energy, and digital innovation within the port sector.

Why is the catalogue of energy transition technologies for ports essential for the SEANERGY Project?

Even though currently there are no concrete obligations set in place to scale down maritime transport emissions, reducing them is part of the EU economy-wide reduction commitment under the Paris Agreement, and it also plays a role in the EU’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
