On Friday, September 6, DAFNI had the honor of welcoming 8 representatives of island agencies and public organizations of South Korea. During their educational visit to Greece, they met with representatives of the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy and representatives from local island authorities.
The meeting was also attended by the mayor of Astypalea, Nikos Komineas, who presented the actions of the Astypalea Smart and Sustainable Island project, which aims to electrify transport on the island and transition to a clean energy system based on 100% RES.
DAFNI presented the ongoing EU projects including the SEANERGY project. The presentation main focus was on the development of the SEANERGY master plan and its potential impact on the decarbonization of the transport sector in the Greek islands.
Additionally, SEANERGY brochures were distributed to the 8 representatives while they were invited to follow the project’s communication channels to stay up to date with its progress.
The purpose of the meeting was to exchange good practices and policies for the transformation of islands into innovation hubs for the development of climate neutral energy technologies.
The meeting closed with DAFNI’s invitation to the World Islands Exhibition to be hosted in South Korea in 2026.
